I risultati non rendono merito al potenziale ad Imola
Il 6° appuntamento della stagione 2020 dell’Italian F.4 Championship powered by Abarth in scena ad Imola non ha “sorriso” a Cram Motorsport.
Il team di Erba, nonostante i buoni risvolti sia in termini di passo gara che qualifica, non è infatti riuscito ad ottenere i risultati sperati, su di un tracciato dove ad inizio stagione aveva ottenuto ben 3 vittorie e un terzo posto.
In quest’occasione, però, i “Blue Boys” hanno fatto fatica con le temperature più rigide che hanno trovato all’Autodromo Enzo e Dino Ferrari.
Andrea Rosso aveva iniziato le qualifiche con il piede giusto, anche se il traffico incontrato nell’ultimo giro del Q1 non gli ha permesso di “attaccare” la top5. Mister Red, scattato dalla 14a piazza (a seguito della retrocessione dovuta alla penalità di Monza) , ha chiuso 11° in Gara 1. In Gara 2 il torinese era riuscito a risalire fino alla 7a piazza, ma una penalità per partenza non conforme sotto Safety Car lo ha retrocesso 19°. In Gara 3 ha poi chiuso 14° a seguito di una corsa molto combattuta e senza esclusione di colpi.
Mateusz Kaprzyk si è dovuto rimboccare le maniche dopo due turni di qualifica complessi. Nonostante abbia mostrato il giusto carattere, però, qualche incidente di troppo e una penalità maturata in Gara 2 non hanno permesso al polacco di accedere alla zona punti. Nelle 3 gare Mateusz ha chiuso rispettivamente 17°, 24° e 30° (a causa di una sosta ai box per il cambio d’ala).
Il weekend di Vittorio Catino, il 2° dopo quello di Monza, è stato in crescendo sul piano dell’esperienza. Dalle qualifiche alle gare, infatti, il giovane ha saputo “invertire la tendenza”, mostrando buone cose. Nelle tre gare ha chiuso 20°, 22° e 26°. Qualche contatto di troppo gli ha impedito di migliorare ancora lo score in Gara 3.
Nicolas Baptiste ha esordito nell’Italian F.4 Championship powered by Abarth proprio in occasione del weekend di Imola. Il colombiano ha mostrato un notevole cambio di passo tra sabato e domenica. Dopo il 27° posto di Gara 1, infatti, Baptiste è migliorato di oltre 10 posizioni in Gara 2, concludendo 15°. Solo un incidente lo ha fermato in Gara 3, dove ha concluso 31°.
Gabriele Rosei, Team Manager: «E’ stato un weekend dal doppio volto. Il potenziale era buono, tuttavia, è mancata un po’ di fortuna nei momenti salienti. In ogni caso sono felice dell’atteggiamento mostrato dai miei piloti, che una volta di più hanno fatto vedere di essere dei combattenti. Ora è tempo di voltare pagina ed approcciare all’ultimo atto di campionato.»

The 6th act of the 2020 Italian F.4 Championship powered by Abarth placed in Imola didn’t “smile” to Cram Motorsport.
Despite the good potential showed in the tests and the Free Practices, the team from Erba didn’t succeed in taking the results the “Blue Boys” hoped for. At the beginning of the season, the team took 3 victories and a 3rd place in the same track. This time the colder temperatures hit the team’s high expectations.
Andrea Rosso started the Qualifying Practices in a promising way; unfortunately he remained stuck in the traffic in his flying lap, which prevented him from taking a top5 ending in Q1. Then Mister Red started from P14 due to the penalty he received in Monza, and he finished the race 11th, close to the top10. He returned to 7th place in the second race, but a penalty dropped him back to 19th. Then he crossed the finish line of Race 3 as 14th after a race full of fights.
Mateusz Kaprzyk had to roll up his sleeves after two complicated qualifying rounds. Although he showed good shape, however, a few accidents and a penalty gained in Race 2 did not allow access to the top10. In the 3 races, Mateusz finished 17th, 24th, and 30th, respectively (due to a pit stop for the front-wing change).
Vittorio Catino‘s weekend, the 2nd after Monza, was all in crescendo in terms of experience. In fact, from qualifying to races, the young driver could “reverse the trend”, showing good skills. In the three races, he finished 20th, 22nd, and 26th. A few contacts prevented him from improving his score in Race 3 even more.
Nicolas Baptiste made his debut in the Italian F.4 Championship powered by Abarth on the weekend in Imola. The Colombian showed a notable change of pace between Saturday and Sunday. After the 27th place in Race 1, Baptiste improved by over 10 positions in Race 2, finishing 15th. Only an accident stopped him in Race 3, where he finished 31st.
Gabriele Rosei, Team Manager: “It was a weekend with a double face. The potential was good; however, there was a lack of luck in the races. In any case, I am happy with the attitude shown by my drivers, who once again showed that they were fighters. Now it’s time to turn the page and approach the last act of the championship.”
The 7th round of the Italian F.4 Championship powered by Abarth will be celebrated on the weekend of 6 December.
