Cram Motorsport saluta il 2020 a Vallelunga
Una piovosa Vallelunga ha ospitato il 7° ed ultimo atto dell’Italian F4 Championship powered by Abarth, nonché il 4° appuntamento del Campionato Italiano Gran Turismo.
Il team ha schierato 4 piloti; Andrea Rosso, Nicolas Baptiste e Vittorio Catino (F4), e Daniel Vebster (GT). E’ proprio quest’ultimo che ha portato ad Erba un altro titolo, il 15° della propria storia, lo svedese ha infatti trionfato all’esordio nella classe GT4-AM a bordo della Porsche Cayman 718.
GT – Vebster, vittoria mozzafiato!
Daniel Vebster – in coppia con Giacomo Riva – ha iniziato col piede giusto, ottenendo la 2a posizione in entrambe le sessioni di qualifica. In Gara 1, su pista bagnata, un contatto nelle prime battute ha penalizzato l’equipaggio italo svedese, rimasto fuori dal podio quando era in lotta per il successo di categoria. In Gara 2, però, il duo si è riscattato vincendo gara e titolo. Per Vebster il successo è addirittura triplo, dal momento che ha fatto suo anche il titolo “Rookies”.
F4 – Il diluvio si “abbatte” sui Blue Boys
Un meteo incerto, che ha addirittura costretto gli organizzatori a cancellare Gara 2 a ritardare Gara 3, ha reso la vita “difficile” ai Blue Boys. Nelle qualifiche Andrea Rosso si è messo in evidenza in Q1, ottenendo la 3a fila, mentre in Q2 non è andato oltre la 24a posizione per via delle difficoltà di adattamento alle Pirelli da asciutto su pista ancora umida. Le condizioni mutevoli non hanno aiutato nemmeno Vittorio Catino e Nicolas Baptiste, chiamati al riscatto in Gara 1.
In quest’ultima Rosso ha chiuso 11°; le continue Safety Car, infatti, non gli hanno permesso di sfruttare il vantaggio di gomma rispetto ai rivali partiti con le gomme da bagnato. Ritirati, invece, Catino e Baptiste. In Gara 3, invece, la rimonta di Rosso, che a più riprese ha dimostrato di avere il miglior passo gara del lotto su pista bagnata, è stata vanificata da un contatto avvenuto nelle prime battute. Andrea ha poi chiuso 20°, mentre Baptiste e Catino hanno tagliato il traguardo rispettivamente in 26a e 28a posizione.

A rainy Vallelunga hosted the 7th of the Italian F4 Championship powered by Abarth and the 4th round of the Italian GT Championship.
The team fielded 4 drivers; Andrea Rosso, Nicolas Baptiste and Vittorio Catino (F4), and Daniel Vebster (GT). The latter brought another title to the team from Erba, the 15th in its history. The Swede won on his debut in the GT4-AM class aboard the Porsche Cayman 718.
GT – Vebster, stunning victory!
Daniel Vebster – paired with Giacomo Riva – started off on the right foot, getting 2nd position in both qualifying sessions. In Race 1, on a wet track, a contact in the first phase of the race penalized the Italian-Swedish. In Race 2, however, the duo redeemed themselves by winning the race and title. For Vebster success is even triple. He’s also the new Rookie Champion.
F4 – The deluge “hits” the Blue Boys
Uncertain weather, which even forced the organizers to cancel Race 2 and delay Race 3, made things difficult for the Blue Boys. In qualifying Andrea Rosso stood out in Q1, obtaining the 3rd row, while in Q2, he finished in 24th position due to the difficulties of adapting to Pirelli dry tires on a still wet track. The changing conditions did not help Vittorio Catino and Nicolas Baptiste, who were called to redemption in Race 1.
In the latter, Rosso finished 11th; the continuous Safety Cars did not allow him to exploit the tires’ advantage compared to rivals who started on wet tires. Catino and Baptiste were forced to retire from the race. In Race 3 Rosso’s comeback, who proved to have the best race pace of the lot on a wet track, was thwarted by a contact in the early stages. Andrea then finished 20th, while Baptiste and Catino crossed the line in 26th and 28th position, respectively.
